8974: A couple of crash fixes

Hi!

I released version 8974 yesterday to fix a bunch of bugs, and to improve a couple of error messages.

  • Fix for _ASSERT(haveShader()) error
  • Errors related to outdated video-card drivers now include a link to the new support page. (Click here!)
  • Fix for LBZ not starting and instead launching lots of cb9_1.exe’s (You’ll need to execute the updaterfix)
  • CPU usage is much improved, players with low-grade CPU’s can play the game better.

Good luck and have fun!

8969: speed 2….

Hi!

Just uploaded a patch that should fix the crashes people have been having.
Also: the game should be a lot faster now.

Did a lot of work to make the game use the CPU more effeciently. it is not where i want it yet, but it is better.

In the other news:
-Artists are now free to use custom shaders when rendering from LGS.
-Added a global default for “melee distance” in moves.

Good luck and have fun, let me know if the crashes still happen!

8952: 1st half of update landed

Hi!

Engine update 8952 is up.

This is the 1st released version with:

  • New OpenGLĀ  renderer backend! (speeeed) :)
  • Speedy particles (100.000 should not be a problem now…)
  • New models in new format (some animation still need tweaking/fixes)
  • Network protocol updates, errors with out of sync moves are prevented now.

I am still working out some kinks, so it is not 100% ready yet, more updates to follow!

Known issues:

  • Some video cards (pre-2010 computers…) may require a driver update to keep working… no new hardware needs to be bought though! :)
  • A lot of the new promised speed seems lost for the windows version: reason: something weird is happening in the GUI code. (Working on it!)
  • Not all models have been converted, the engine is complaining about that on the console.
  • Some animations have been incorrectly converted/named: will fix!
  • You may get “Division by zero” crashes. this is due to some LGS script dividing by zero!
